About Us
The Conad model
Putting people first is a distinctive feature of the Conad System which is also reflected in its organisational model: Conad Members are traders who have freely chosen to form Cooperative companies, which in turn are part of the National Consortium that acts as a purchasing and service centre for the entire system.
International alliances and memberships
The Conad Consortium belongs to two political-trade union organisations: ANCD Associazione Nazionale Cooperative fra Dettaglianti (National Retailer Cooperative Association – part of the Legacoop trade association) and ADM Associazione della Distribuzione Moderna (Modern Distribution Association), representing the sector. Both have the aim of engaging with institutions and other economic actors involved in the large retail sector.
In 2022 the five Conad Cooperative companies joined Confcommercio-Imprese per l’Italia, following the framework agreement signed with ANCD in 2021. In this way, the Conad System took part in the complex discussion process with the trade unions during 2023 for the renewal of the Tertiary, Retail and Services Collective National Labour Agreement.
Furthermore, the Conad Consortium is one of the members of AgeCore, the largest international strategic alliance in Europe which brings together a number of large market-leading independent retailers: Conad, Coop Suisse, Colruyt and Eroski. Overall, they have over 8,800 stores and a total turnover of 72 billion euros.
Regional and local relations
The bond with Communities and with the social and entrepreneurial fabric which drives their spirit is Conad’s distinctive feature in the market, which makes it in all respects a system of social support that can help towards growth and social well-being.
There is an ongoing dialogue involving local suppliers, associations, the third sector and the public administration with a view to creating value for each local area.
